Competition Law in and for Asia
Navigating Diverse Economies and Digital Transformation

21-22 May 2025

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

We are delighted to welcome you to the official website of the symposium on Competition Law in and for Asia: Navigating Diverse Economies and Digital Transformation.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of competition law, there has been a noticeable gap—a lack of a dedicated platform to comprehensively address competition law issues within the Asian context and explore ideas from beyond Asia that may resonate with or be adapted to the region’s unique needs. This symposium seeks to fill that gap.

Our aim is to bring together a diverse community of scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and anyone interested in the field of competition law as it relates to Asia.

This event is a collaborative initiative organized by competition law scholars from Kyushu University, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and the National University of Singapore. Together, we aim to foster rich discussions, inspire innovative thinking, and build connections that advance the field of competition law in and for Asia.

A part of the symposium receives financial support from the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science as part of the Kakenhi Project Kiban B project no. 23K20574, titled "Re-evaluating Minority Shareholding in Competition Law Against the Background of Horizontal Shareholding by Investors: Lessons Drawn From Fintech and E-Commerce Startups in Asia"

Sincerely Yours,

Steven VAN UYTSEL
